This notice is regarding “The Electronic Waste Management Act” (the Act) (N.J.SA 13:1E-99. et seq.) and the request that we assist as this Act is implemented. An important provision of this Act is a disposal ban of “covered electronic devices”. Covered electronic devices include televisions, computers, monitors, portable laptop computers and the like. This disposal ban became effective on January 1, 2011.
The NJ Department of Environmental Protection (Department) is preparing an outreach campaign to alert and educate the public about the requirements of the law; however, we are reaching out to our customers as well, since we will be prohibited from transporting these items for disposal as solid waste as of January 1, 2011.
This new law prohibits the disposal of computers and televisions together with waste. For more information regarding what to do with and where to take covered electronic devices, please feel free to contact the Department’s “E-cycling” website at: https://www.state.nj.us/dep/dshw/ewaste/
Recycle Enhancement Act Tax:
On January 13, 2008, P.L. 2007, c.311 was signed into law and immediately imposed a Recycling Tax on every ton of solid waste accepted for disposal or transfer at a solid waste facility. Every owner or operator of a solid waste facility in New Jersey, except those exempt by law, is subject to this Tax.
Trash Toters:
Toters are the property of Freehold Cartage, Inc. and must be returned upon the cancellation of services by either party. A toter fee plus collection agency fees will be assessed if your toter is not returned for any reason including damaged, lost or stolen. Please contact our office at (732)462-1001 for pickup details.
