Freehold Cartage is a well-established, growth-oriented family business still run by its original founders. For more than 60 years, we’ve provided transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to select customers across the U.S. and Canada, alongside residential and commercial solid waste and recycling service throughout Central New Jersey. Many of our terminal managers and dispatchers started as FCI company drivers, they know the road, and they know what it takes to do this job well. Driver Positions
We’re hiring across four divisions: Tanker, Van, Roll-Off, and Local Trash & Recycling (NJ only). Experienced Road Drivers need at least 1.5 years of verifiable over-the-road experience with a regulated carrier. Trainees are welcome if they’ve graduated from an accredited truck driving school and hold a Class A CDL.
Compensation
Mileage pay scales with experience: Up to $.65 per mile — up to $20/hr, stop pay, layover and detention pay, a $30 per diem, Canada-crossing pay $200, and a $.03/mile safety and performance bonus. Payroll runs weekly.
Benefits Package

Confirm you meet the minimum driver requirements: age 21+, CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements, and a clean recent driving record, or identify the non-driver role that fits your background.

Interview and
qualification review
Our Safety Department reviews your driving history, verifies DOT certification eligibility, and schedules an interview.

Onboarding and paid training
New drivers complete paid training and are matched with a permanently assigned truck. Benefits eligibility begins after 32 days.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements, be able to obtain DOT certification, and have no more than one accident or moving violation in the last three years.
Yes. Trainees who have graduated from an accredited truck driving school and hold a Class A CDL are welcome to apply. Experienced Road Drivers need a minimum of 1.5 years of verifiable over-the-road experience with a regulated carrier.
Pay depends on experience and role — mileage rates up to $.65 per mile, with hourly options up to $20/hour, plus stop pay, layover pay, per diem, Canada-crossing pay, and a safety/performance bonus.
Eligible employees, after 30 days, may enroll in health, prescription, dental benefits, short- and long-term disability plans. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in a life insurance plan paid by the company and the 401(k) with an opt out option and a company match program. A Roth plan is also available. PTO, sick time, seven paid holidays, and a uniform program.
